MIDDX Girls U16 Water Polo team have an outstanding success at this year’s Inter-County
Middlesex is delighted to share the fantastic news of our Middlesex Girls’ U16 team and their outstanding success at this year’s Inter-County Tournament.
Represented by talented players from Barnet Water Polo, North London, and Penguin, the squad delivered a series of commanding performances that earned them the gold medal at the 2025 competition. Their teamwork, discipline, and determination were evident from the first whistle, and they set the standard across all their matches.
Our girls defeated both Surrey and Kent with authority, producing confident, composed, and technically impressive displays throughout the day. The full set of match scores is as follows:
- Middlesex vs Kent — 5 v 2
- Middlesex vs Surrey — 12 v 1
- Kent vs Middlesex — 1 v 5
- Surrey vs Middlesex — 2 v 9
This performance places Middlesex firmly among the strongest counties in youth water polo, reflecting the hard work happening across our clubs and the continued growth of the girls’ programme. Their success also highlights the value of the Inter-County structure, which for many players is a key stepping-stone toward regional and national pathways supported by Swim England Water Polo, London Region Water Polo, and wider talent development initiatives.
The tournament also marked the debut of Jaspreet Gill—recent recipient of the prestigious Ron Turner Trophy—in her new role as Assistant Coach. Her contribution was felt immediately, and we are thrilled to see her stepping into this position as part of our ongoing commitment to developing coaching talent within the county.
Congratulations to every player, coach, volunteer, and club who contributed to this achievement. It was a superb day for Middlesex water polo, and a powerful statement about the strength and future of our girls' programme.
