The Only One of Its Kind – Len Badcock Para Meet Marks 9th Year of Inspiration

Leah Pullen

On Sunday, 15 June 2025 (Father's Day), Middlesex County ASA hosted the Len Badcock Memorial Para Meet for the 9th year.  The meet was set up in memory of Len who left the County a legacy in his Will.

Barnet Copthall Leisure Centre hosted the meet and welcomed 29 swimmers from 19 clubs from across the Country.  There were some amazing swims and a good time was had by everyone who attended.  Swimmers, coaches, team managers, non-technical support and officials had a lovely day sharing fun and laughter throughout the day.

Every swimmer who attended was presented with a rosette and a Certificate of Attendance by either past presidents of the County or Brock Whiston, Para-Olympic gold medallist (200IM).

We are hoping to get sponsorship for next year as well as spreading the word about the competition further afield as this is now, apparently, the only meet of its kind in the country.

Here are some of the lovely comments we received following the event:

Many thanks to you and the entire team.
We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in organising and supporting the event. It’s truly our favourite one that Jacob attends each year. The atmosphere is always so friendly, relaxed, inclusive, and encouraging.
Events can often be a source of stress for Jacob, as he worries about how he’ll perform. But the thoughtful touches—like ensuring every competitor receives a rosette—make a world of difference. They help him feel valued and supported, regardless of the outcome.
A really lovely day and great to see so many familiar faces. We have pencilled it in again in for next June and can put in the exact dates once they are available.
