Lyn 'The Fin' Swims Channel

Teddington's Lyn 'The Fin' Hawkins realised a child hood dream recently by swimming the Channel in a time of 16h 45m having swum a distance of nearly 40 miles while dodging Supertankers and Ferries and coping with adverse tides especially during the latter stages to reach the French coast.

Despite this exhausting swim Lyn still had the energy to run up the beach in Calais.

Ecstatic but tired Lyn said "all the hard work in training had paid off and it was her mental strength and training that kept her going and not wanting to let down the people who had sponsored her". Lyn is hoping that the swim will raise £15000 for Macmillan Cancer Research.
